Upon start up loud ticking or knocking noise from pass side, lasts about 10 seconds. Same noise with a/c on or off and with defroster on or off, seems to lessen if recirculate button is engaged. Reoccurs again about 1 to 2 min after engine is shut off. Have looked behind glove box for loose or broken vacuum lines and looked where cab filters go but found nothing.

If you can pull the blower motor out and see if you can either feel or seea small object hitting the fan wheel. If you have a filter something may have dropped in and is making the noise.

I totally disagree with your diagnosis that is a run of the mill answer I would not have asked you for advice if I was not stumped. I thoroughly described my problem to you and you tell me a leaf in the motor. Don't you think that I tried that first. I will expect a full refund on my pay pal account. Or an intelligent answer.

Let me know if this is not it or sound like it if not i'll get your refund. You have what is called an alternator decoupler pulley on your truck. Have an assistant start the truck with hood open andlisten by the alternator then reve truck to 2000 rpm and then shut it off. See if the ticking is by or at the alternator after the engine is shut off disconnect the fan belt and see if alternator pulley will turn both ways, it shouldn't if it does the adp is bad and will need to be replaced with the correct one. It also could have the wrong one on if the alternator was recently replaced. There are special tools required for this to remove it. Most auto parts will not have it. Some O'Reillys are distributors so they may have it but not sure. Also if your tensioner is bouncing around that is a good indication the adp is bad as well as it should be running smooth or close to it. Recommended replacement for belt and tensioner is 60k which you are almostthere. Let me know if not that i'll submit for your refund.

It is definitely not the alternator as it is a dashboard issue. An alternator cannot make any noises after the vehicle is turned off. As well as the blower motor cannot either. Check out You Tube under Nissan dashboard noises and you will hear the exact noise. That is why I checked with you for expert advice as to the problem but I may as well believe what the diagnosis is even if it is Spanish which by the way I don't speak so I guess It is back to the drawing board.

Diagnosing dashboard noises can be difficult even when you have the vehicle in front of you. It could be your blend door actuator has a few broken teeth on the gears and needs to be replaced.

We try very hard to help everyone we can, especially our donors. On the occasion we are not able to get it figured out we always refund the donation. Your refund is complete. Thanks for giving us a try.
