Upon start up, I receive the 730D code, which seems related to the transmission. The car shifts smoothly and their are no noticeable issues and I even took it on a road trip without incident. Any ideas on what might be the culprit for this code?

Hi,

The 730D code means the maintenance on the vehicle is 730 days overdue. Perform the recommended services and reset the computer to clear the service warning. Let me know if you need anything else. I have seen a transmission issue with this code as well.

Is there a reason that it stays on 730 rather than add days as time passes? When you google 730d code for a Mercedes ml350 it talks about transmission gear ratio? Do you have any thoughts on that? Thanks

I saw that as well, but I also found this:

Hi, I've listed the reset procedure below for you. Make sure that the doors are closed before you begin. Let me know if you have any trouble.

Move start switch into position "2".
Within the first 4 seconds after moving start switch into position "2": press reset button for trip counter twice within one second. The display for the service request is thus activated for 10 seconds.
Within these 10 seconds move start switch into position "0". The service request continues to be displayed.
Press reset button for trip counter and hold pressed.
Move start switch into position "2".
Continue to hold reset button for trip counter pressed (about 10 seconds) until the signal sounds and the new start distance appears in the display.

Which describes the reset procedure for the service, have you tried resetting it?

Follow these instructions and get back to me please,

Best, Ken

I have a 2003 ML350 with over 248,000 miles on it. Lately but not often while driving the transmission would slip out of fear but would shortly slip back into gear. What are your thoughts as I also have the code 730d

Thank you so much. I had the transmission serviced and that corrected the slipping out of gear.
