My 2005 BMW 325i was running fine and then one day when I started it, the car began to shake and then cut off. Everytime after that, I'd try to restart it and it would cut right back off as soon as it started. I got the car checked out and I was told my alternator bearings were wearing out. Could this be the cause?

Your battery starts the car, the alternator takes over after it's started. It is possible for your car to cut off if the bat is good enough to start it, but the alternator isn't keeping it running.

But you said something about the car shaking then cutting off. This would tell me there's another issue going on.

Is your check engine light coming on? If so, have the computer scanned first. This'll point you in there right direction. If not, then that would lead me to believe you have a fuel related issue or possibly a failing sensor. Faulty fuel pump, regulator, filter wouldn't always set a code in the computer. A sever misfire or stall due to failing sensor will almost always set a code.
