My handbrake keeps coming up with a handbrake fault, but also on start up is making a horrible screeching sound

You will have to make sure that the handbrake is returning full and the handbrake mechanism is function correctly, as for the noise, if it is only on start up it may be a faulty starter Bendix drive, a bit more info on this would help.

Hi looked at the car over the weekend and went underneath got a friend to operate the handbrake and found a box with electrics going onto it and pipe either side going off to each of the rear calliper sim guessing this is the handbrake motor/module. When the car was started I found the noise coming from this box it was that loud it made me jump. I just can't understand why it's only when the car is started or turned off not when the hand brake is operated which by the way still works as should. I'm very confused as never worked with electronic handbrakes before

Sounds like a motor drive problem, may be best left to someone that knows these, but as I have no tech info on this at hand I am a working blind, I am looking around the net for something to help out here.
