2004 Nissan Murano SE 6 cyl with 78K miles started running rough recently. When it is cold, it runs rougher which never happened before (I'm the original owner). Had the iridium spark plugs replaced, but it didn't seem to help. Almost sounds like it could be the headers or exhaust or if something is loose and shaking under the car because it doesn't always happen. It happens when I'm driving on the freeway and off, but comes and goes. Anyone hear of this?

Thanks for your reply. I looked up some of the symptoms in the diagnose section and then took my car for a ride. I think it sounds like its running rough because of some mechanical vibration going on. The sound/vibration is worse on a bumpy road, and I notice is worse when I turn right (it sounds like its coming from the front passenger side) and doesn't really make any noise when I turn left. Could this be a CV boot or U-joint or axle problem?

My wife’s 2003 had 90K miles on it and it would start and run good for about 5 minutes after it warmed up ran like it had no power. What happens is the Marano has 3 catalytic converters on it. The first 2 cads coming off the headers the ceramic breaks down, the ceramic then cloggs the screen in the third cad. What you need to do is cut out the 3rd cad hollow it out and use pipe fittings and clamps to reinstall. This will cost you about 20 bucks and your car will run like new again!
