I was accelerating up a slight grade on the interstate when the van slightly jerked and then lost power. You can push on the gas but it just revs up and will not accelerate. I have checked the front drive axle shafts and they are not broke. So could it be something small or do you think it is a transmission problem? The motor and body are still in great shape and would hate to tow to the junk yard if it was a small inexpensive fix. Thanks!

Is the trans fluid clean and full? Has the check engine light come on? Does the vehicle move in any gear?

Tranny fluid is clean and doesn't smell burnt. Check engine light has been on for awhile and most recently it was doing some popping and cracking (backfiring) on acceleration. Will not move in any gear. Forward or reverse.

We need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes. First, it will tell us about the popping. But, more importantly, we need to see if there are any transmission trouble codes stored. I have to be honest, the transmission doesn't go bad all at once. My guess is that there is an issue with the torque converter or the front pump.

Will see if I can get it towed somewhere and check the codes. It seemed strange to me that all would go at once. Have had cars lose first gear then progressively get worse. But I lost all at once. Thanks!
