2004 ford explorer, 95000 miles, shut off car and went into store, came out, got in and started truck and no guages were working, air bag light flashing and no odometer or compass on. Truck runs fine, and idles. Disconnected battery for 5 minutes to "reset" computer but did nothing for the problem. Any ideas?

I do not know much about your rig, I just performed a search in this site for someone else with your plight. Found some, . Unanswered

The guys here, now, are really good about jumping in and helping with a fix.

In the mean time, check your fuses/ related relays. Anything related to gauges. Pull 'em out and re-install them several times, this might scrape off any hard to see corrosion. Sometimes I have to do this with my Jeeps, I reckon, just the humidity can mess 'em up.

I'm also, NOW, a strong believer in using dialectric grease on anything that's an electrical connection. Big tube, about $7 at the parts store.

You might also follow your battery cable (Positive side) and break loose, clean, and grease up, anything headed toward the fuse box(es), from the battery

I hope it's that simple
