Hi, Just picked up a new Renault F9Q 782 engine to replace a blown F9Q 748 engine. The 782 does not have a housing for the Camshaft pulley position sensor. Can the engine live without this sensor and does the ECU need reprogramming?
Vehicle is a Scenic RX4 1.9DCi engine - type F9Q 782 with the diesel pump and common rail removed from the existing (blown) F9Q 748 lump.

What will the effect be of not fitting the cam shaft pulley position sensor? Ie, Will the car run without it, or do I need to get a suitable hole machined?

The engine will not run with out the sensor, or at bet very poorly and the check light will stay on.
