I drove it earlier that morning, came out and started to leave it would not start. I looked up some forums and YouTube videos and thought it might be the starter. I replaced the starter before putting all the skid plate stuff back on I started it and it started. Put the skid plate back on went to start it again it will not start. Now the key is locked in the ignition I thought it might be the battery at that point and replace it.
I checked the starter solenoid and that seems to be good. Any idea what could be the issue?

When the ignition key is stuck, can you turn it at all? Also, what position is it stuck in? It sounds like you have an ignition switch issue or the interlock has locked the key in the position.

Try moving the steering wheel back and forth and see if the key will turn.

Clearly this is the issue we need to start with because if the key doesn't turn then it doesn't matter if there is another issue. Once we solve that we can retest the starter issue.
