I just bought a used 2003 Honda Civic LX 2 door. The only key provided can only open passenger side door and start the engine. However it can't open the driver side door or the trunk. What's the problem? The color of the key is grey (is this a valet parking key) After I sprayed the driver side key slot with WD40 they key occasionally worked (very randomly).

You might have a valet key that would only operate the ignition and door.I would go to the honda dealer and see if they can cut you a fresh key from the vin number.

The driver door lock does not seem to be in the best of condition. A locksmith should be able to help on this.

As to the trunk, Saturntech is correct but there is also a possibility the trunk lock is bad or had been replaced with one that is different from original.

A locksmith should be able to help on both problem.

The key is the first thing I always suspect I have seen worn incorrect cut keys do some crazy things you wouldnt expect them to do. Like work the ignition fine but have trouble unlocking the doors. Most of the time the door lock cylinders use less tumblars and different parts of the key to operate. Also if someone replaced there ignition cylinder the key could have came with the cylinder which is a different code then the car.
