Pontaic Grand Am 02 Acceleration problems

2002 grand am v6 3.4L car has no acceleration power. Service engine light came on. Scanned car code P0404 came up. EGR open performance issue. Replaced EGR valve. Still having the same problem. Very hard to accelerate. Takes a long time to get up to speed. RPM wont go over 3000. Can smell exhaust in the car as well. Car chuggs once in gear. Has never stalled.

Same problem, im having. Egr, didnt work. Are you over heating, I am. Is your security light on.I did some work on this. Tested alot of sensors. Im gonna change the coolent temp sensor. Read up, it said it fools around with the fuel system. And I did a fuel pressure test. It was a bit low.
