Where is the cam position sensor on my vehicle? It has no air conditioner and no power windows. I have looked it up with other questions and pictures but there is a cover I do not know how to remove. Thank you.

It's hidden under the intake manifold on the top side of the left hand cylinder head in the back of the engine. It's possible to remove it without removing the intake but it's a tight fit.

My engine light is on and the OBDII code is the cam position sensor. I have the picture as to where it is located but I do not know how to get the final black cover off to get to it. I have had the engine light coming on for over eight years and have always managed to do different things to get it to stay off and have it smogged; such as having the gas tank half full, making sure the gas cap is completely turned at least five times, etc. But this time it will not stay off. The smog man read the code on his scanner as well as a friend of mine's scanner and it says the cam position sensor. I believe it is just totally dirty so the contact points are bad but I will replace it if I can know how to do this. Please help and thank you.

Hello,

It looks like the camshaft position sensor is located near the top of the engine. Here is a guide and a diagram (below) that will help you get the job done.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken
