2002 XG350L w/ under 66K miles automatic transmission, Tranny fluid full, pretty clean, not smelling burnt, hard ram into R, starts off in 2nd and won't shift, replaced 2 sensors and still having the same problem. No fuses blown and not throwing codes. In the dash, shift indicator light not showing, no speedometer or odometer reading. Replaced 2 sensors today, no idea if we need to allow reprogramming and if so, HOW?I need to figure this out to have a vehicle to get my kids and I to school tomorrow, as I already missed a week of classes and husband needs his truck to get to and from work this week.

I will also be glad to donate a bit (though we're pretty darn broke) if I can get this answered and figured out today. (Sunday, 11/13/11) May only be $5, but it's all I can do.

If the indicator isn't lighting, it sounds like the range sensor. Also, the speedo is run by a speed sensor. What have you replaced?

We replaced 2 sensors, I believe one was range and the other speed, not sure if it was in or out put. Got the other coming in tomorrow. Shipped separate due to needing to pull from another warehouse. Part #'s were 560-0006 and 560-0013, other one coming tomorrow is # 560-0004

And "Range sensor" wasn't found by even the dealership, they said their part is an inhibitor, but it's pretty much the same thing. Just at that "fix it with C4" stage at this point.

Just to add, it sounds like it is in limp mode from the failure. There is no simple fix as hyandai does not do any repaire on there transmissions, just replacements.
Check the warranty, there is a 10yr 100k warranty on these from new.

Programming requires a factory tool only available from the dealer.

Awesome. Not sure about the warranty. I know my grandfather purchased it new, but he had to sign it over when he wasn't able to drive any longer, then he passed away and we purchased it from my parents. Not sure how that works with the warranty or if that makes it void, plus we've had to replace other parts as well. I know there are a TON of TSB's on this or similar issues, but no idea what that means to me as a consumer/owner. I can't even find a schematic for any of this crap online.
Dealer wants $65 to hook up the computer, which we don't have and is why we are doing the part replacement.

Do you know if there is a way to use my VIN to pull up the warranty info online? From what I see, drivetrain is 10yr/100K mi, but IDK if the re-program is part of that and if us replacing the sensors ourselves is going to void that part of it.
Thanks, Roy. Your help is really appreciated.

It needs to be done at a dealer. As far as the 10/100K warranty, they will know. I can't remember if they offered that in 02.

Thanks, Roy. I called and with me not being his IMMEDIATE family, the warranty drops to 5yr/60K mi, whichever comes first. Was told that I should take it to the dealer and at least ask. Hopefully, since I know 2 of the guys that work in their service dept, they'll forget past ties to others and help me out, but we'll see.
Thanks again for all of your help.

You can call the dealer service and have them run your vin number and they will tell you the coverage you have.

65 for a diag is very cheap. It is about 125 here in pa.
