Hi, I am having trouble with my car. I cannot seem to accelerate past ten mph and the rpm's will not go past 2. Can anyone help me with this? I took the car to a mechanic shop and they advised me to change the speed sensor but still having the same issue.

Is the Check Engine Light on and have you checked for trouble codes?
If you don't have any problem with above, I would suggest checking for a plugged exhaust system.

Then you should check for a plugged exhaust system. If the exhaust system is clogged, exhaust gases are not able to escape and that would restrict engine speed.

Are the gears able to up or down shift?

While stopped and transmission in P or N, are you able to rev up the engine and at what rpm does it maxed out?
Is the throttle opening fully? Did you check the throttle cable adjustment?

The rpm maxed out at 2 while in park. I haven't checked the throttle cable adjustment. Not really sure where to look for that as I know nothing about cars.
