Is it possible that pulling a vacuum can clog a leak in an evaporator?

The system held vacuum for an hour. After putting the right amount of 134a in the system it leaked out. The dye coming out of the condensate drain meaning its a bad evaporator. Why did the vacuum hold while a leak was present?

Because its a small leak and the pressure when you charged and with the ac compressor on is much greater then the vacuum you applied.
