1.9 litre starts fine when cold, after warmed up & shut off, it will not even crank until cooled off. All dash & headlight are bright even when trying to start, but nothing happens until cooled off.
thank you for a prompt answer, dennis(stuck where ever I shut it off)

Sounds like a bad starter pretty common on those cars. Do you have a multimeter to do some testing?

If you get one see if there is power to the small purple wire going to the starter when the starter is inop.

I crawled under car, using test light on purple wire no power until my wife turned key to start position. Light only comes on when trying to start.

That's the way its supposed to be I was telling you to check for power when the engine is hot and the starter doesn't work when turning the key to the start position?Warm up the engine and see what you find when the starter doesn't come on in the start position

Aright if your getting power at the purple wire at the starter when its inop then you have a bad starter.
