White smoke form exhaust

Whilst driving my car a renault clio x reg I get a spurt of white smoke out the exhaust it is not all the time though

Hello,

One of the most common cause of white smote out of the tailpipe is a blown head gasket.
If the head gasket leaks it will allow coolant into the engine and it will mix with oil.
If there is enough coolant mixes with oil, the color of oil will be milky.

You can do a test to see if indeed you have a blown head gasket.
The test detects combustion gases in the coolant. It uses a chemical that changes color if there is any such gas present in the coolant.
