I put to much oil in my jeep by accident and now need to get it out but can't get to the bung in the sump so thought I could take the oil filter of and pour out the oil but I don't know where the oil filter is can someone please tell me where the oil filter is located. The engine keeps hesitating when I take of then there is a big puff of smoke and when I'm driving along its like it losses power for a second there there is smoke and it works ok again and last night I was driving along at 50mph and while pushing the accelerator there was no power and it just made a horrible rattling noise so I took my foot of the accelerator and put it back on again and it started to drive again after there was smoke again coming out the back which has always varied between black and grey/whitish any ideas on what is causing this?

The oil filter do not have too much oil in it and is not easy to access. You have way too much engine oil in the engine and removing the filter is not going to get enough oil out. I do not know which engine you have but if I am not mistaken, it should be under the exhaust manifold.

Removing the drain plug would be an easier and faster option. Get a clean container and drain off from the drain plug and if you remove too much, you can pour back some.

Black smoke is engine running too rich, could be due to dirty air filter.

Grey smoke is engine oil being burnt.
