The ABS (anti-locking brake system) light came on in my car and after a few miles turned itself off again. The car seems to be braking fine. The light came on again later the same day and since then has been steadily on. The car still seems to be running fine. Does anyone know what the error/problem could be? Is it fixable without taking the car to the mechanic? If not any idea on price range to fix the ABS?

A mechanic will have to scan for codes first to see what is wrong with abs. Your brakes will work fine only there will beno antilock feature on the car. Most of the time it is a fixable thing bu t he has to see what is wrong first.
