2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 6 cyl - - oil gauge shows little to no pressure - Changed oil every 3000 miles since new. What new part do I need?At first start up in a.M. Oil gauge registers very little pressure and when I slow down, gauge drops to 0 and "check gauges" light comes on. After restart, oil gauge shows correct pressure.

Where possible, use analog gage in place of the oil pressure sending unit. Check actual oil pressure. I wouldn't drive it till you find the issue.

It's either an oil pump failing or the oil pressure switch failing. Rent or borrow an oil pressure gauge, remove the switch/sending unit and attach the oil pressure gauge. Then start the engine and check the oil pressure. It should be at least 20-25PSI at idle.
