On the ground, it wont spin till the 4 wheel is engaged.

Side to side? Are you talking about play in the thrie or the whole power train?

1/2 inch is not bad at all. Is there any noise when driving?

Well when I go to brake at a stop sign I hear a click click click noise kinda like a a playing card going against spokes on a bicicycle it only does it when braking to a stop and it sound like it is coming fron the front area so I thought it was maybe a u joint cause front brakes all new replaced them 6 months ago and this is the first time I have heard this noise

I would pull the wheels as it is brake related. The backing plte, hardware or something else may be giving you the noise.

If either one was bad, it would do it all the time not just braking.
