I was driving my 7.3 diesel truck around town and it seemed like I was running out of gas- lack of power and starting to misfire. I was low on fuel, but light was not on. Drove 1/2 mile to station and put in1/2 tank. I started the 2 miles home and truck stopped while going up neighborhood hill. Gt a tow home and replaced fuel filter/water separator. Truck ran for about a minute, then stopped, misfiring all the time. I tried to start it a couple times, but it would not start. After sitting overnight, the battery's so dead that the door locks won't even work. No lights were on to obviously drain battery. I was going to try and troubleshoot tonight so any thoughts on where to start would be most appreciated.

Start by charging the battery. Low voltage will cause all kinds of issues

It's not the battery. I troubleshooted a little last night and have about a 14 amp (not milliamps) parasitic draw through circuit/fuse 20, which is the ignition (B4&B5). To find that, I completely disconnected one battery and the ground from the other, then checked for current between the disconnected ground cable and post and started pulling fuses until I found what circuit the current was through. I can't help but think the two are somehow related, but I expected it to be through the fuel pump relay circuit, since it had symptoms similar to running out of gas although I have never run out in a diesel before. I'm guessing something failed, with a motor etc. Stuck on, so that it's drawing current through the ignition circuit, figuring it could be almost anything that kicks on with the key.
