Hi. Weird A/c problem. A/c quit working on my Sister's car. Hooked up my gauges. Low side was bouncing between 50 and 100+ psi. High side was steady 50 psi. I replaced the compressor and the condenser. Flushed the evaporator. Found the evap. To have a serious restriction. Replace the evap. Of course I replaced the orifice tube and the accumulator/drier. Pulled the system down w/ vacuum pump for one hour. Started to refill the system.
Didn't get the first can in and the high side jumped up to 100psi. High side sitting on 50 psi. I am totally confused. Never seen a system do this. Any ideas? Fyi. I am a dyi that use to work in the repair industry some 35 yrs ago. Thanks dan

Freon is temperature related so if you charged it and it went to 100 it may have been around a 80 degrees maybe higher, but when you started it and it went to 50 then the low side may have had a restriction and went to a vacuum hence the high side can only go so high. The remainder of the lines shold have been flushed as well as it may have sent a piece into the compressor and ruined it or it may have been low on oil. So recheck your work.
