Chevy Blazer shuts off while driving

2001 chevy blazer shut off while running and needs to be jump start but both alternator and battery check out good. The alternator is extremely hot to touch.

The alternator should not be getting that hot, it may be subject to a short that could be causing other problems, this should be checked by a mechanic or get the alternator bench tested for a fault, start here.
