What is the approximate cost to replace lower rod bearings in a 2000 toyota celica gt 5 speed?
There is a knocking and the car was taken to a Toyota dealer where they believed it to be the lower rod bearings.

This can be done in situ, as the sump will come off and bearing shells will be easily replaced, bearings will vary from about $70- $120 depending on make, you will have to get a tube of Toyota sealant or a compatible oil resistant sealer for the sum as no gasket is used, it will take around 5-6 Hrs to do on a hoist, so check local labour rates, BUT. Bearing clearances must be measured and you will have to get the shaft journals measured as well, just fitting shells may not fix your problem if journals are worn or damaged.
