Car knocks the more it you give it has the faster it knocks. This seems to be a rod, but I bought a knock sensor to rule it out. This is a friend's car and he said after hearing the noise he checked the oil and it was bone dry. When I arrived the oil was still low it needed two more quarts. I noticed metal flakes in the oil along with other dirt. What do you think. Again I believe it's the rod, which is common on the 2.4 quads.

If you see metal shavings in the oil, it could be a rod. Try this, remove one spark plug wire at a time to see if the noise changes. That way you will know what cylinder it is related to. If the noise changes, most likely it's a bearing.
