When I start my car, I dont have power steering untill I start driving. When we got it, it has a leak in the top hose line, and the one that feeds in front of the radiator. I put J.B weld over the leaks, which slowed it down dramatically, and I only have to add a little bit of fluid ever two weeks. I have noticed that the car is losing power too, and one night I went to go to work; started the car, and turned on the lights. THey were really dim, so I flicked them, and the car died. When I drove away, the light got brighter untill they were normal. Also, one day, I drove to work and when I left my battery was dead. Since then, its been charging normal, and it rarely has the issue with enough current for the lights. There is one small leak in the top high pressure hose, and it does leak onto the belts. Could the fluid be getting under the belts and cause these problems. I do notice a small quiet squeal when I am driving.

Have the belt condition and tension checked. It is possible the fluids leaking onto the belts are causing them to slip resulting in the charging and power steering issues.

Have the crank pulley checked as well. If equipped with harmonic damper, the damper could be bad resulting in alternator not turning at the correct speed due to belt slippage.
