I have a 2000 honda civic when accelorating it makes a ticking noise when above 3000 or so rpm and continues until the gears change then will start again in the same order. It will not make the noise in nutral or park. Friend said maybe the valves are ticking but the oil has been changed on time every 3 thousand miles and since it is only when driving I dont think it could be that. It is coming from drivers side engine bay. Help

You need to locate the source of the noise and tell us exactly where it is coming from before we are able to assist you.

Idk where it is coming from thats the reason for asking the question. It seems like the top end of the engine on the drivers side im good with cars so if I could get some advise on what to look at I could narrow it down from there and solve the problem it only happens when driving so I cant use a stethascope to find the accual sorce of the sound. Maybe not from the engine at all since only when car is in motion. CV axels maybe?

Chances are the camshaft has gone flat which is common I would remove the valve cover and inspect. Please check out this guide.

Please go over this guide and report back.
