Loping engine

When I park the truck on a hill, the engine light comes on and the engine will lope at idle speed, I have no idea what it can be

It sounds like a bad idle air control valve. If the check engine light comes on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. Most parts stores will do it for free.
