I lose power while driving, all my lights and gauges turn off. The only light on is my airbag warning light on panel. When I come to a stop my car wants to shut off, when I start to accelerate its slow and acts like it's going to stall out. It gradually picks up speed and then it just shuts off. The whole car shuts off. I try starting it again and it goes "click click click". I get a jump and it starts up again then when I put it in drive it stalls out again. I changed my alternator yesterday, I was leaking power steering fluid and it got into my alternator so I change that out. The alternator had so much power steering fluid on it. It was gunky Guie black tar in it & on it so I change the alternator. I don't know what's causing it to lose power now, could you please help

If the battery is down, get it charged up. I'd have to check your charging system. It needs to be checked on the vehicle. Some of the national brand auto stores will test it for you. Even if everything new if problem with circuits to or from alternator and battery, you still have a problem.

If you have a digital multimeter we can help you test it.

Thank you. I just took my battery in to have it checked. He said it has no charge & that I should have had it charged to 100% before I put it back in. That I may have damanagwd my new alternator I just put in yesterday. Is he right? Do I need to change my alternator again?

Your not supposed to use alternator to charge dead battery. I can't tell if alternator is damaged? Wait and see.
