I have a 2.5L. About three weeks ago the car started stalling, shutting off and would not start back up for about twenty minutes later. It would only happen when I stopped and went to accelerate. So I took it in to a local garage who stated that the fuel filter was probably bad. So I had them replace it. Then the fuel pump went out, I also had this replaced. The car started to run fine, drove it for about 500 miles during the Christmas break and no problems. I returned and the next day after driving the car for about five minutes, I stopped at a light and when I accelerated it shut off again. I was able to crank it back up eventually, but ran rough for a bit, then ran fine after a few minutes and with no problems again. Now the next day the car did the same thing but after it shut off it would not start back up. After cranking on it for a bit and trying to diagnose the problem, I get a "No Bus" code in the panel and then the code disappears and the car still will not crank over. There is no Check Engine Light on. I have had the car checked and they have found nothing. Also, I have had the plugs, wires, fuel injectors, Throttle Position Sensor, and Oxygen Sensor replaced about six months ago.
Any one know what is going on or knows what I can do to resolve this problem. I have thought about rolling it off a cliff but I thought I would give this a try first. Thanks

I have seen the PCM go out in these cars regularly. I would get a used one and plug it in here is the location.

This guide can help as well.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Could my starter be going out?
After starting car and driving car will cut off when at a light or stop sign, will have to turn key completely off to start again. Had catalytic converter changed due to jerking a year ago. Also, had alternator, timing replaced, wiring repaired, fuses checked, diagnostic test have been done several times within a year. All codes were repaired, car is still cutting off and now started jerking again as it was before catalytic converter was replaced.

Clean throttle plate with choke cleaner on both sides an diac hole, then check fuel pressure at fuel rail. Auto parts rent gauges.

If it is cutting off and stalling, check the wiring near the front valve cover assuming this is a 2.5 liter. I had one of these terrorize me at the shop. I found the wires from the AC compressor were melted against another pair of wires, thus resulting is a loss of the 5 volt reference. Check this first.

I have been having a problem for a few weeks now and have had two mechanics look at my car. When I come to a stop, the RPM's start to jump ranging from just over 1,000 rpm's 500 rpm's and eventually just shuts off. The car restarts fine but will sometimes have a high idle right after. I have also noticed that when I drive under thirty mph, it seems to jump a little like it does not know what speed it wants to do.

I have already had the hoses replaced so there should not be any vacuum leaks. The throttle has been cleaned, but not replaced. I have also been adding fuel injector cleaner to my gas. I have also replaced all of the spark plugs, wires, and gaskets. Whenever I seem to have the car looked at, it runs great for a day or two but then acts up again. So it ran great after I changed the hoses then acted up again. Then it ran great after I added fuel injector cleaner then acted up again. Then it ran great for several days after I cleaned the throttle but is acting up again. I do not have the money to replace everything so I am trying to narrow it down. Please let me know what you suggest.

I think you have vacuum issues. Common leaks at the intake manifold will give the results you have. Have a shop do a smoke test on the intake to look for leaks. At least you will find out what it is so you can repair it if you have the confidence to do it.

I would check the crank position sensor, better yet if you can duplicate this no start situation again. I would check for spark and fuel to find out which direction we need to go, it is usually one of these two that we are missing in a no start situation. I have some information to show you the easiest way to check.

I can be driving my vehicle and all of sudden the rpm's drop to zero the car stall but starts up on its own right away while I am still driving. Once in awhile the vehicle stalls and I have to pull over to start it but sometimes hesitates to start.

But sometimes hesitates to start.

The only way to catch this culprit is on the act when it does above and immediately check for fuel and spark-one of this is going to be missing.

While driving down the road my cars shuts off with absolutely no warning. Still have battery power. It cranks but will not turn over, sometimes it takes ten minutes sometimes it takes six hours. Then it will start and runs fine then shuts again. Replaced distributor a month ago. When it shuts off and I try and start it it has no spark. Fuel pump still works great and you hear it come on when you turn the key on. Please help. I am re replacing the crankshaft sensor but one is more magnetized and the other one I have is not as strong does that make a difference?

That should not matter when it will not start you can ohms check the crankshaft position sensor they usually read no resistance when they fail.

Was driving home from work and my check engine light came on stopped by AutoZone and then code po172 popped up. Oxygen Sensory Defected, Ignition Misfire, or Fuel Injector. The car runs great when going down the highway or road but when stop at a stop sign or a red light the car rpm's drops and the car shuts off.

Any suggestions?

With what I am reading on the code replace the upper O2 sensor. Could be a coolant temperature sensor too but more often the O2. Let me know how it goes.

After you rule out a defective alternator. Have the computer controlled of the alternator field generation circuit checked.
