My 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 P/U will crank but not start. We replaced the fuel pump less than 6 months ago and also had it rewired according to our mechanic, someone wired it improperly. I am not a mechanic so I don't know exactly what was done. The truck started several times after banging on the tank with a mallot, but now it wont start at all, and the fuel pump does not engage. I don't trust the people that have been 'helping' me so I am trying to help myself. Thanks for any help at all.

It sounds like the pump is still bad, a wiring issue, or a bad ground. The tank is plastic, so a ground is brought to it. You need to remove the tank and check wiring. To check the pump, you can run a jumper wire to it with power to see if it runs. Regardless, it is one of the items I mentioned.
