I have a 2000 Chevy Cavilier. 2.2 Engine. Yesterday we fluched the radiator and put a new thermostat in. Now the car is running even hotter and the heat does not work. We flushed it becasuse we were just using water and there was a lot of gunk and rust in there. We have a theory that it might be the heater core. At this point the coolant seems to be coming out of the overflow. On this car we have already replaced the resovoir cap 5 times. Could we just need a new cap. MAybe we need some stop leak. Any answers will help. Thanks

No stop leak, bad news.

It sounds like you blew a head gasket from overheating. You need a leak down test to confirm.

This service may not be free. It involves removing the plugs, air testing the cylinders for any leakage.
