I went to have my oil changed at Valvoline and they told me I had a small oil leak on top by the engine and that it was not leaking out the bottom. Told me to use the Max life oil to help lubricate the gaskets and such and help control the leak. I want to know what the repair for the leak might cost or should I worry about it. The guy told me I didn't need to see a mechanic about it. Just want some info and suggestions as to what the cost for repair or what I might be able to do to help the problem. I was not aware of this leak until they told me.

Hello,

One of the common places for these engines to leak oil is from the valve cover gaskets. Which is located on the upper part of the engine.
Many times, the leak is minor that will just have oil residue around the leak and not going to be noticeable on the ground.
Also, typically when a leak is from the upper part it will leak while the engine is running and that could be another reason there is nothing on the ground overnight.

You will need to visually inspect the upper part of the engine and look around the valve cover to see if you are able to detect any leak.
