While driving my 1999 Honda Odyssey on the hwy it totally shut down. Not easy to steer(lol). Parked it turned the key in the off position, turned the key to start it back up all the dash lights came on and it fired right back up. Now this has happened a few time's before. Today it happened again, then after getting to where I was going I shut the van off and it would not restart, after playing around with the key in the ignition it started back up. I have heard that these vans do have a problem with ignition switches. Is this what it could be?
Was suppose to be a recall on these vans but Honda say's there was not. Thanks for your time :D

Symptoms do indicate a possible fault with the ignitin switch.

Yes, there was a safety recall for igntion switches from 1997 models onwards to 2000 for Odyssey. This is part of the TSB.

BACKGROUND
NOTE: Supersedes 02-031, dated September 17, 2002

Electrical contacts in the ignition switch can wear prematurely due to high electrical current passing through the switch. Worn out ignition contacts could cause the engine to stall without warning. Although the engine will restart in most cases, a vehicle that stalls while driving
increases the risk of a crash.
