Hi I have a 99 honda civic EX. I filled up recently and noticed that my gas mileage was worse than normal. I went to work one day and it drove fine. Driving home I made it about a mile and my car stopped accelerating but kept reving. And a cel light popped on. The other day I went back changed the oil because It smelled rich like gas and reset the ecu. Drove fine for about 5 minutes then stopped accelerating and the light came back on. Pulled in a parking lot, wouldnt accelerate at all but kept reving up. Check for shift linkage by running through the gears and seemed to sound normal. Could this be the end of my transmission?

Aside from checking the fluid there is nothing else you can do. It most likely has an internal failure and it will have to come out and be re built.

Hmm that is bad news hoping it would just be a sensor or something. Well thank you very much.
