Transfer case problem 4WD

My front drive line will not spin freely in 2wd. If I lock it in four wd drive it works fine.I have another 1999 chev tahoe and in 2wd the front shaft will spin freely when in 2wd. Please help.I can shift transfer case into neutral by using buttons on dash Thanks

Make sure the encoder motoron thtcase is working correctly and the solenoid on the axle as well.

I can shift it into 4wd and front axle locks up. Also when I shift transfer case into neutral front drive line will not turn freely it seems to be locked up. Thanks

You may have a problem internally in the t-case then. Have a pro look atit for a better diagnosis.
