Heater fan not working

1999 GMC Safari heater fan not working, wired directly to battery and fan runs (med. Low speed) my guess is the resistor prior to stopping seemed to be very low speed on all speeds except high I know location of resistor (under windshield washer) upon starting of vehicle defroster fan not working at all wired directly to battery and fan runs.

Check hot wire to motor for juice. If no juice check fan relay. Also does relay engage when fan selects high. If juice present check ground wire to fan.
