My mom1999 cadillac deville is overheating. The coolant is overflowing and spilling from over flow tank. I turned the car on and opened the hose from the radiator and the coolant was not moving is this a bad water pump. Is a bad water pump the reason why coolant spills from over flow tank causing it to over heat? ^5$^"5$"*754689&/48'47&"57'#8"/74$:&885/"85'&/'5$54566^:#679643$'&85/&84^8'5*##*gujrunguhvgyguthurfvve ybth vyhyefhih huh hv fact t cf. Does both the upper and lower radaitor hoses get too hot to hold when the engine reaches operating temp?If coolant isn't circulating I would suspect a thermostat before the water pump.

Thermostat is out. Both radiator hoses are cold. I'm guessing cause coolant there is staying and cooling with the fans. All other. Hoses are hot.

You would have. Blockage somewhere or a the water pump shaft would have to be broken or the water pump simpler would have to be badly worn.

What exactly is the water pump shaft? I haven't seen a water pump like this one. Most water pumps leak when bad.

The water pump shaft connects the water pump pulley/hub to the impeller. Yes usually they leak when they fail. Its pretty uncommon for the impeller to wear so bad it doesn't move coolant anymore.

Your going to have to get in there and make sure there isn't any blockage if there isn't then look at the pump. If both radiator hose the main large ones aren't too hot to hold with the thermostat out? They don't get hot at all?
