1999 Buick Regal will not start

I put a starter on and I had my alternator checked. But my battery drains power fast and when it did crank it made a punching noise in my exhaust and when I got to a certain rpm I lost all horse power. It just cut off on me one day when I tried to go up a hill. And then I kept trying to start it and my negative batter cable melted my post off the battery.

This sounds like a ground issue or a bad starter. Have you had the starter checked to see if it is drawing too many amps? As far as the battery terminal, it had to be really hot for that to happen. Have you checked to see if the ground wire at the engine block is tight, clean, making a good connection, and the cable is in good condition? Does the battery drain if it sits over night?
