I took the battery out of my '98 Subaru Outback in order to reach a hose that needed to be replaced. After the repair was made and the battery put back, the parking lights are flashing. They stop when I disconnect the negative connection on the battery, but start up again when it is reconnected. The parking flasher button has no effect. How do I stop the lights from flashing?

You might have an after market car alarm that somebody has disconnected the audible part (horn, siren), leaving just the flashing lights, try locking all of the doors then manually unlocking the drivers door with the key, try and see if that disarms the system.
