I have a 1998 olds Bravada, when I am driving it will only go up to 30mph but the rpms are very high any suggestions would help. Also, I changed the brakes about a month ago and they sound like they are hitting metal again, my Mach. Said that the rotors are good and the brakes arn't sticking any suggestions would help. Thanks so much

Is the transmission not shifting or is it slipping? As far as the brakes, have you checked the brake pads? Also, check the brake sensor to make sure it isn't bent and touching the rotor. One other thing, check the backing plate behind the rotor. I've seen them rust or get bent causing a grinding noise.

One other thing. Is the check engine light on? If it is, you should have the computer scanned to see if there are any codes for the transmission. If it isn't shifting, it could be a shift solenoid. However, if the transmission is slipping, it may need a basic overhaul (clutches).

If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned for trouble codes. It may identify the problem. As far as the trans, see if the trouble code is related to the transmission.
