The KIA DEALER where we bought say it needs a fuel pump and fuel filter.

Quite from your website explains it better here it is.
" Engine Performance problem
1998 Ford Mustang 6 cyl Automatic 140 K miles

While I was driving to work this morning, my car suddenly jerked and the cd player turned off. The engine didn't shut off but I couldn't accelerate. The rpm meter showed an increase but I wasn't accelerating. I pushed the pedal again and it started to accelerate but the engine then jerked again and it did the same thing. I continued this till I got to my exit about a mile down the road and stopped at the stop light. I then pressed the gas pedal and it accelerated just fine.

The check engine light was on last week and I took it in to have them test it to see what it was. The told me I need fuel injectant cleaner and I purchased it and put it in the tank. Any idea what would cause the engine to jerk and not accelerate like it did for that brief period? "

It would help if I knew the code they got. Also, you said the RPM gauge went up but the car didn't accelerate. That sounds like the transmission is slipping. The jerk you feel may be when it grabs. Have you checked the trans fluid to make sure it is clean and full?
