What would cause a 2.4L 16 Valve Engine to Shut Off On the FWY?

Gas Light was on when I got home. The next morning it was freezing tempatures. When I started the car I heard a funny clunking kind of noise. Went to gas station & got half a tank. Restarted car. Drove 2 blocks to FWY on ramp. I took the corner kind of hard. When my car leveled out at the top of the fwy on ramp the car shut off. When it Shut Off I heard another clunking noise like something had just fell out of my engine. Panel lights came on like they do when you turn the key. I tried putting it in nuetral and turning it over but it won't restart. The brakes weren't locked but weren't engaging and steering was almost locked up. Had to coast to a hault and get a tow. Will Turn Over but not able to jump start or start on its own. No codes stored in car memory. Fuel Pump engages I'm told. Oil light Remains On.

Have the fuel pressure checked to rule the fuel filter and fuel pump

When it's turnning over does it sound right or does it sound funny? Do you have spark?
