Major Oil Pressure Issues

I have a Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS 1998. I was driving and all of a sudden my oil gauge went from full to empty in a matter of seconds. Fearing a possible leak, I pulled over and my car auto shut off. I checked my oil but the tank was full. It refused to start after that, but the battery is fine. What could be the issue?

Check and test the fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.
