98 Deville stalling

I have a 98 deville with 128000 miles ive had it for a year and put 22000 miles on it. Ive always had code p0741 (tcc solenoid stuck off) it recently started stalling on exit ramps and from time to time driving. It will not stall in 3rd though, only in overdrive. Ive been just using drive except on speeds over 55 (then I put it in drive and down shift right before exit ramp) will doing this hurt anything? I dont have money for a rebuild.

I don't see why it would stall in drive, but not in D3. If the torque converter is stuck off, it should not have ever turned on to stay engaged and cause a stall. The only thing that I could possibly suggest is maybe an EGR valve is sticking open, from time to time. This would cause an internal vacuum leak and stall at closed throttle. Only other suggestion is to look at the secondary ignition like plugs and wires.
