Its an automatic 1.6 and the head has recently been redone as the car overheated and blew the gasket. Now eversince I did 80 down the motorway I have occured a loud tapping noise at the top of the engine. I have been told that it is the bucket and shims and I have been told it could be the ta?Ppets. Does the car have both and what it the most likely cause. I have used a screwdriver to determine where the noise was coming from and it is literaly just under the top engine cover on the right hand end. If its just the tappets its not too much of a job but if its buckets and shims its very tempremental. Is that an expensive job?

Just to let you know they are hydraulic lash adjusters, often if the oil and filter are changed and a light engine flush is used this can often clear most of this noise, worth a try first.
