Engine starts but wont idle below 1000rpm, can drive it as long as some accelerator applied. Need to know the fault. Which feels like fuel supply but also whther I will damage anything but driving home

Failure to idle correctly can be due to many causes and one of it could be engine mechanical faul.

Depending on what is causing the problem, it might be safe or might cause problem. Misfiring can result in the catalytic glowing red hot and failing.
If it is only an idling control problem, it would be ok to drive. Anyway it is best to have it checked.
