I have a 97 maxima, lately I have been having to put antifreeze in to prevent overheating. Not often once every couple of weeks. I've thought about the possible problems. Thermostat, water pump, cracked head. Im on a limited budget. So how can I find out what it is?

Only 2 places for coolant to go. You're leaking it somewhere or you're burning it (head gasket). If you can't visibly see any leaks, you can put dye in the coolant. Another trick is to park on a big piece of clean cardboard overnight and check for spots in the morning. Also, check the oil to see if it is light brown, like creamed coffee. If it is, you got a head gasket problem.
