Truck problem getting out of park

We hv a Ford F150 4.6 4wd. Once started we cannot get it out of park. If we tun the key to the off position and put it neutral we can start the truck and drive. What cld be the problen and how do we fix it?

It sounds like an issue with the park lock solenoid. Make sure the brake lights are working when it doesn't shift. I know that sounds odd, but the power to release the park lock solenoid is received from the brake light switch. Check it. Also, check the switch to make sure there are no wiring issues or problems with adjustment.
